The project began with the renovation of an existing building dating back to the tsarist era, which was completely restored, modernized and expanded with two side wings designed to accommodate rooms. The structure features an imposing front colonnade, bordered by a gate leading to a central lobby, which serves as a junction between a building used as a restaurant and a second building intended as an auditorium.
The entire complex was designed to host concerts in honor of Russian composer Sergey Vasil’evič Rachmaninov. Architectural design, interior design, plumbing and lighting were all handled by the Ronchi team. The furniture, all custom-made, was made by Molteni & C., the exclusive contract partner for the entire project.
It is a boutique hotel that, in addition to housing a museum, also serves as an auditorium and venue for educational classrooms, which are mainly used for corporate refresher courses. It is not designed for mass tourism, but rather for corporate events and training.
In the lobby, a wallpaper decorated with Rachmaninov’s original sheet music contributes to an atmospheric ambiance of homage to the famous composer.
The entire interior design and furniture project was 100 percent by Ronchi, with the collaboration of Molteni for custom furniture. The hotel, named “Dominanta,” is a perfect combination of art, culture and functionality.
